For Families
From troubled and troubling tots to teens - from violent, destructive behaviours to anxiety-based controlling and self-injurious behaviours, we’ll equip you with strategies and techniques proven to help where traditional approaches don’t seem to work.
Nonviolent Resistance (NVR) is a powerful (yet gentle), ethically-sound philosophy and skills-set that can help anyone living with and/ or supporting children and young people who might present in violent, aggressive, controlling, destructive and/or self-destructive ways.
NVR - Beginner's Mind Programme
During the first lockdown in 2020, we developed our comprehensive NVR - ‘Beginner’s Mind’ programme sessions which have proved incredibly popular, attracting attendees from all over the UK, the UAE and the USA.
NVR is a systemic, parent-centred, child-focussed approach which concerns itself with the raising of parental presence in the household and in the broader family and social systems.
Our NVR - 'Beginner's Mind' Group consists of regular online meetings for collaborative information-sharing and discussion about the fundamentals of NVR. No prior knowledge of NVR is necessary, just curiosity and a willingness to explore a new way of approaching troubling behaviours.
Groups consist of a mix of NVR professionals and parents/ carers which has always made for really interesting discussions and some great learning opportunities (you can read some recent feedback below).
NVR - Beginner's Mind weekly Support Groups
In January 2026, we introduced our weekly 1-hour Lunchtime NVR - ‘Beginner’s Mind’ Online Support Group, providing affordable, accessible support for self-funding families, as well as a valuable interim option for those awaiting assessments and funded services. The rolling nature was our way of ensuring that no family would need to wait longer than a week to access support. This format also provides a flexible, low-cost option for self-funders who have previously attended NVR sessions and would welcome the opportunity to dip back in, refresh their learning, and reconnect with the approach as needed.
In May 2026, an additional support group as part of our 'Parental Alienation' Service. Our Evening NVR - 'Beginner's Mind' for PA Online Support Groups provide a space for parents space for parents who are struggling with resistance and rejection dynamics to share and discuss predicaments, and exchange NVR reflections and strategies with practitioners and other parents.
These Support Groups are not our comprehensive NVR parent coaching programme, but they provide interim support for those unable to attend a full NVR group, or awaiting our next full programme. Each gathering also offers the opportunity for those who have completed a full NVR parent training to refresh their grasp of the approach.
